39th Annual Grand Western Shindig
Mission Road Ministries’ 39thannual Grand Western Shindig, christened the “Texas Two-Step” this time around, hit the Witte Museum’s Mays Family Center on November 30th. A staggering 683 guests gathered to support those with intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD).
The results? Amazing.
As of December 6th, the fundraising total is sitting at more than $669,000, with yet more pouring in. Almost $150,000 of that is going towards their Summer Outreach and Recreation (SOAR) program, which will host 70 children this upcoming summer. 164 auction donors and 191 volunteers contributed to the night’s proceedings, which went towards the nearly 1,000 children and adults with IDD that Mission Road Ministries cares for.
Those who missed out on the sit-down portion of the evening still got to enjoy themselves courtesy of the Shindig Dance Party, which featured Bandera’s Almost Patsy Cline Bandalongside an open bar, a dessert bar, and dance lessons from top hometown instructor Esteban Cardenas of Studio One.
It’s awe-inspiring to see this level of giving directed towards mental health care, and we can’t wait to see what they manage to cook up for the big 4-0 next year.
