As the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo approaches and local families continue the debates, bargains, and occasional fistfights over who gets to go on which date, the organization itself is quietly giving back. Tuesday, January 22nd saw the Witte Museum’s Mays Family Center host the SASSR Educational Foundation’s 14th annual Cowgirls Live Forever Scholarship Luncheon & Fashion Show.

Families and organizations from across South Texas came together to donate a dozen collegiate scholarships for students all around the State, including a pair from right here in San Antonio. Participants in the luncheon, which also honored Janell Kleberg for her incredible career and charity work, enjoyed an eye-popping food menu, which featured what may the greatest combination of words in the history of the English language: tamale-stuffed Bandera quail topped with chorizo gravy.

The titular fashion show, put together by RWorld Production, showcased a massive variety of outfits tailored around the theme “What to Wear to Rodeo.” The champs over at Style Lush TV put together a nice highlight reel for those interested. You can learn more about the show and its history on its website.
