Mimosas are a truly special beverage, being one of the few socially acceptable methods to drink before noon. This past Tuesday (February 5th), the Mays Foundation and La Brasada Foundation presented the 10th annual “Mums & Mimosas” luncheon, honoring both motherhood and, to a lesser but still notable extent, champagne and OJ.
Meredith Brewer, board member of Good Samaritan Community
Services, introduced keynote speaker Kimberly Williams-Paisley, whom you may recognize
as Annie on Father of the Bride. Williams-Paisley
released her memoir Where
the Light Gets Inin
2017, which discussed her mother’s struggle with dementia and her family’s
response. In addition to the Mrs. Williams-Paisley, the organizers took the
opportunity to celebrate honorary chairs Jenifer Colglazier, Mary McNelis, and
Scotty Macdaniel, the original creators of the event.
On the guest side, participants enjoyed mac & cheese pot
pie and a raffle that featured such goodies as a case of Veuve Clicquot
champagne and a handmade quilt from Good Samaritan.
The Mays Family Center will host a wide array of events as
the year progresses, including this year’s Havana Nights on February 16th and the Hearts
in Harmony Gala on the 28th. Keep an eye on the schedule and don’t miss out!
