The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo isn’t just 18 days of Western action and top-notch musicians whose tickets sell out while you’re still trying to decide who to see. It’s also a force for good, helping children through its yearly S.A.L.E for Kids event.
This year’s event, presented by San Antonio’s own Silver Eagle Distributors and sponsored by Gunn Automotive took place on October 6th at the Pearl Stable. RK Group catered an evening that featured a silent auction, dueling pianos all the way from the great Howl at the Moon courtesy of Kreager Mitchell, and a live auction with items like a fishing trip to Lake Amistad and a trophy axis hunt at Cherry Springs Ranch.
Other attractions, all proceeds of which went to the S.A.L.E Scholarship fund and the Junior Livestock Auction, included a Kendra Scott jewelry pull and a Studio Benton photo booth.
It’s always worth remembering that beneath the spectacle of insane equestrian feats and adorable slabs of beef, there’s a whole new generation to nurture so they can carry these traditions forward. Don’t forget to keep an eye on the website as we approach the 69th annual show, which starts on February 8th.
